Chanting “We want to go to school” students and their parents took to the streets of Grand Marais on August 19 to protest the I.S.D. 166 school board’s decision to have kids attend school online this fall.
In a brief interview with WDIO TV, Stephanie Radloff said she organized the protest after seeing how disappointed her two kids were when they were told they would attend school using the distance-learning model adopted by the school board.
The march, said Radloff, was held because she didn’t think the school board was listening to the wishes of the community. She hopes the school board will change its mind and allow in-person school or use a hybrid-model where the students are online part of the time and attending school part of the time.
