Sunday, June 7, was a cold rainy day but the parking lot at the Grand Portage Visitor’s Center was full of vehicles. The rain didn’t stop throngs of (mostly) raincoat wearing people from hiking to High Falls, which is located on the Pigeon River in the Grand Portage State Park. At 120 feet, High Falls contains the tallest waterfall in the state. Right now the surrounding forest is lush and green and the waterfall—even on a rainy day—is spectacular.
