Still wearing a thick winter coat of fur, this healthy looking bobcat paid a visit to Jim Ringquist’s backyard on Monday, April 6. These cats, about twice the size of a house cat, are rarely seen. An average adult stands about 2.3 feet and weighs between 11 and 30 pounds. Males stake out a territory of 25 to 30 square miles while females roam about five square miles. While these cats can catch large game they prefer to eat rabbits and small mammals. Their tails are 4 to 7 inches long and are bobbed, and that’s how they became known as bobcats.
