Panfish, in this case bluegills, are out there in some of the Arrowhead lakes. Diane Gervais of Tofte/Two Harbors enjoyed a great day fishing on one of those lakes in Cook County on July 5. If you can find them, just keep a meal to protect the fishery for the future. Most importantly, release the big “bulls” (males), as they guard the nests after the spawn. The long black flap at the end of their gills identifies males.
