The Violence Prevention Center had a bubble-blowing booth set up for little kids and big kids during the Grand Marais block party held on Saturday, June 9. It was a big hit, although it was cold enough to make a bubble’s round luminous cheeks shiver and quiver because of the cold weather. Still, lots of beautiful bubbles were created, bobbling and bumbling, bouncing and flouncing through the air down the billowy, blustery bubbly street toward the lake, which greatly pleased both little kids and big kids. There was a variety of booths and live music for patrons to enjoy during the day-long party. Unfortunately the cold and at times rain kept a lot of people away. Still, the first-time event was something to build upon, and next year — weather permitting — it should be bigger and better and bubblier than ever.
