Beth Olson was honored at a retirement party on her last day at the Violence Prevention Center in Grand Marais Friday, January 8, 2010. She was on staff for four years and plans to spend more time gardening, with her family, and volunteering for the Grand Marais Playhouse now that she is retired. At the February meeting of the Violence Prevention Center board of directors, it was decided to move from staffing the center with a team approach to appointing Jodi Yuhasey as director and program advocate. Yuhasey has a background in victim services, has been with the program since 1993, and says the program hope is “someday domestic violence and sexual assault programs will not need to exist.” However, until that day, Yuhasey said the program would be available. The Violence Prevention Center has been providing free and confidential services to all affected by domestic violence and sexual assault in Cook County for 24 years.
