Each year Bethlehem Lutheran Church hosts Julefest, and the Scandinavian event features a visit from Lucia, who wears a crown of candles and brings a tray of saffron buns to share. The event is held near the shortest day of the year and honors St. Lucia and celebrates the return of the light. Isabella Sparks was this year’s St. Lucia at Julefest held on Saturday, Dec. 10. With her are attendants Cecelia Chmelik (holding the coffee pot) and Amy Carpenter.
