A bounty from Ruby’s Pantry! Ruby’s Pantry was developed with a twofold purpose: to help people in rural Minnesota stretch their food dollars and to lessen food waste. It is estimated that 40 percent of the food in the United States is thrown away. Many Cook County residents have been traveling to Silver Bay to take part in Ruby’s Pantry distributions. Participants give a donation and recieve a “share” for $20. This photo shows a sample of what is distributed in a share—it's always different. Community members are working to bring Ruby’s Pantry to Grand Marais. Details are still being worked out, but the distribution will likely take place on the second Tuesday of the month from 4:30 - 6 p.m. at a location to be determined.
