There was a lot of pulling, pleading, and petting during the uproarious Donkey Basketball event at Cook County High School on Monday, April 6, 2015. The CCHS Band fundraiser was attended by more than 500 people who came to see three matches—the junior class versus the senior; Cook County Sheriff’s Office versus the Grand Marais Fire Department; and a final match between the junior class and the Sheriff’s Office. The 8-minute championship game was a tie, so the winner was determined by a dance off between Deputy Jesse Johnson and Owen Anderson. Anderson is pictured here, coaxing a donkey across the centerline. See more of the action on page B7.
