After three years of trying, Lynetta Houglum of Grand Marais was able to fill her wolf hunt license tag. She trapped this 62-pound female wolf first thing in the morning on November 30, the first weekend of the late wolf hunt season. Houglum said the wolf was taken east of Grand Marais in an area with a lot of wolf activity. It is believed that Houglum is the first female in Cook County to get a wolf. She is having the pelt made into a rug. Lynetta said, “Thanks to my great teacher and instructor, my husband, Sheldon.” At presstime, 29 wolves had been taken in the northeast Minnesota zone.
