Decorating Grand Marais for Christmas was a collaborative—and rather frantic—effort this year. Grand Marais Area Tourism Association Director Diane Brostrom helped gather interest in sprucing up downtown Grand Marais with new Christmas decorations. The city offered a $5,000 match, and Eric Humphrey of the Lake Superior Trading Post helped get another $7,000 from local businesses. When the city maintenance department heard that the decorations could not be delivered until after the November 24 holiday parade, Assistant Park Director Amber Clay went to Duluth to pick them up. City workers also helped with the decorating, and Roxann Berglund and Larry Gamer harvested and created greenery displays for city planters.
