The recycling collection event in Grand Marais on Saturday, May 17, which accepted old computers, TVs, stereo components, microwaves, and miscellaneous other electronics and small appliances, was apparently a huge success. Cars and trucks loaded with old and broken electronics were lined up for several blocks down 5th Avenue. The truck brought by the recycling company, TRC, was not big enough to take it all. The company had to return a few days later to remove the massive pile of waste electronics. Another collection will be held at the Tofte Transfer Station on Saturday, July 19.
