As reported earlier this month, Dallas Smith of White Bear Lake and Grand Marais, was the winner in the Mills Fleet Farm Big Buck Challenge, a statewide contest. Smith won first place in the “Biggest Doe” category with a doe weighing in at 160.16 pounds. Smith is pictured here, claiming his prize, a Polaris Sportsman 500. With him is his girlfriend—and hunting partner—Tammi Cox. Tammi reported that they were hunting north of Grand Marais on opening day of hunting. Tammi said the big doe was taken with the first shot from about 320 yardS with Dallas’s 300 Winchester.
