As evidenced by the strain on these mountain bike riders' faces, the first hill in the Sawtooth Mountain Bike Challenge is extremely hard as riders climb from the shore of Lake Superior to the Pincushion Mountain Trail system, a climb of 1,000 feet in 1½ miles. The race was held on Sunday, September 8 with 62 mountain riders taking part on a perfect day to pedal through the woods on the challenging single-track trails that have been built on Pincushion Mountain.
