The basement of St. John’s Catholic Church was filled on Sunday morning, July 14 to help Lucille (Lu) Pettijohn celebrate her 100th birthday. A World War ll vet, Lu served five years, eight months and 3 days setting up medical bases around the U.S. to take care of injured soldiers. Although she quit driving three years ago Lu still lives on her own and attends Mass each morning. “She’s absolutely incredible,” said one person who wishes to remain anonymous. With Lu is (L-R) Dave and Flossie Palmer, Bob Pye, Skip Joynes, Ken Wielinski, Lu and Charlotte Maciejewski.
