The owl irruption continues and residents have been treated to glimpses of owls throughout the county. Grand Marais photographer David R. Johnson said he “got lucky” on February 12, when this great gray owl posed for awhile and then took off in flight. Great gray owls as well as other species have been part of the irruption, a birding term for an unusual mass movement of birds into the area.
