Bob Walker with the Grand Portage National Monument took this photo of an interesting visitor last week. National Park Service Biologist Brandon Seitz identified it as a Great Gray Owl. The owl hung around the field for about five hours, snuggled down in the snow. The owl’s range is normally north of us, so it seems to be an irruption year when owls migrate south in search of food.
