Photo courtesy of Violence Prevention Center A Candlelight Vigil of Hope was held on Thursday, October 8 at Harbor Park in downtown Grand Marais. Community members gathered around a beautiful pine decorated with purple lights—representing those who have been lost to domestic violence. Attendees sadly remembered the 20 people who have lost their lives this year alone—eight of the victims were children, one a police officer responding to a domestic violence call. The Candlelight Vigil is sponsored by the Violence Prevention Center in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October. If you or someone you know need help, contact the Violence Prevention Center at (218) 387-1262.
