A family of beavers—two adults and three babies—has taken up residency within the Grand Marais harbor, building their stick and mud hut on the inside of the break wall close to the U.S. Border Patrol office. Photographer Paul Sundberg shared this picture with us, noting that beaver use their front feet like hands. Their long toes look just like fingers and they are able to turn a tiny branch in a circle as they feed on it.
