Cook Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) held a poster contest entitled Forests for the People. Ilena Berg, water plan coordinator, visited the fifth graders during science to talk about sustainability, healthy water and how it relates to healthy forests. The students then created posters following guided directions. Posters were judged by the SWCD board at their April 5 meeting. (L-R) Sela Backstrom (3rd place), Alyssa Fenstad Lashinski (1st place), Lance Bartol (Honorable Mention), Leif Anderson (2nd place). Berg said, “All the participants did a great job of sharing their message about how they feel about Forests for the People.”
