Cook County recently received an award from Minnesota Counties Insurance Trust, its insurance provider, for being “overall most improved” in its Property, Casualty, and Worker’s Comp Division. Personnel Director Janet Simonen attributed the accolade to good claims management in Auditor-Treasurer Braidy Powers’ office, good building and grounds maintenance by Brian Silence and his staff, and initiatives of the county’s safety committee. Displaying the award (L-R) are county commissioners Sue Hakes, Jan Hall, Bruce Martinson, and Fritz Sobanja. Not pictured is Commissioner Jim Johnson.
