Viewed from the street, the courthouse lawn looks like it has been attacked by giant gophers who have dug some very large holes and left some very large piles of dirt. Instead, what’s really going on is that a stormwater filtration system has been installed at the Cook County Courthouse that will serve to filter stormwater runoff before it reaches Lake Superior. This project is being done in conjunction with the work on the old Gunflint Trail that is being entirely redone through town.
