Not many kids turned out for the Cook County Safe Routes to School Day that was held Thursday, May 4, but those that did enjoyed a nice walk or bike ride in relatively warm weather. The event was hosted by Cook County Safe Routes to School Committee as a way to encourage kids to walk or ride their bikes to school. The theme for the walk/ride was taken from the Star Wars movies and kids, parents, or chaperones were encouraged to wear Star Wars themed clothing or costumes. Adult volunteers enjoyed free refreshments following the walk at the Community Center.
