Get your binoculars ready, the large freighters have returned after a winter hiatus and are busy sailing to and from Duluth or other ports on their long journeys.
The shipping season started on March 25, as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, Soo Project Office, opened the Poe Lock at 12:01 a.m. marking the 2023 Great Lakes shipping season.
