The Nao Santa Maria docked in Grand Marais overnight on Tuesday, August 2. The ship had a lay-over as it made its way to Two Harbors to take part in the Festival of Sail Lake Superior. There will be over half a dozen tall-masted ships that will be on display in Two Harbors August 4-7.
A replica of the ship captained by Columbus, the Nao Santa Maria is 7.69 meters long and has a sail area of 300 square meters. It was launched in 2018 and its home port is Puerto Sherry, Spain.
