A group of concerned Cook County citizens held a March For Our Lives at noon starting in the Grand Marais Harbor Park on June 11, 2022, joining hundreds of other folks from cities and towns who held similar marches to protest gun violence in our communities. The first March for Our Lives was held in 2018 after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas school in Parkland, Florida. Among other things marchers called on legislators to pass Universal Background Checks and support legislation that would invest in mental health professionals, special workers, and nurses instead of police in schools.
