Long time local artist Gail Hedstrom is the featured artist at Johnson Heritage Post for the next three weeks. Her batik artwork is rich in texture and filled with warm colors found in common northland images. The show is titled Batiks to Dye For and opened last Friday night to a large crowd of friends, admirers and art aficionados. They seemed to not only enjoy her batiks but the wine and cheese served from 5 to 7 p.m. as well. Besides wall hangings she also displayed purses and bags and for those lucky enough, she had a few “Babes in the Woods” jackets and coats for sale at deep discounts. Hedstrom is an accomplished artist with a fine eye for capturing beauty in simple items. If you get a chance, be sure to catch her show. You’ll be glad you went.
