Seed firmly beaked, a perturbed chickadee fans its tail feathers before it flies off. Chickadees love to eat sunflower seeds either in the shell or cracked. They will eat up to 150 sunflower seeds per day during mild winters, but they will devour up to 250 sunflower seeds per day during hard winters. Sunflower seeds have a high fat content which helps these joyful little birds survive tough winters like the one we are having now.
