This fellow is living up to his Algonquian name “moosewa” which means “twig eater” in the Algonquin language. Moose like to eat twigs of deciduous trees, like birch and maple, but will also munch on conifers, such as balsam firs and browse shrubs and eat leaves. They also dive up to five meters for aquatic plants like water lilies. During the summer moose eat 40-60 pounds of food per day.
