The Algonquin’s had it right when they named moose “mooswa”, which means twig eater. Besides twigs moose graze on leaves, grass, buds of trees, pinecones, and water plants, diving down more than 16 feet to get to the plants. An adult moose can eat 40 to 60 pounds of food each day in the spring, summer, and fall. A moose can hold up to 100 pounds of food in its’ stomach.
