About the vote on the 1% sales and use tax, I believe that more people were interested in public broadband than the expensive, grandiose, “pie in the sky” Cook County Community Center.
I haven’t heard any more about a petition to slow down the process of the County Community Center, so I’m starting one. If you want to slow down and scale back the current plans of the County Community Center you can sign the petition online at communitycentermadness.com.
If you have difficulty finding a petition to sign or if you would like a petition to circulate yourself, e-mail me at look@communitycentermadness.com.
I will forward your responses to the commissioners and will place paper petitions to be signed with pen and ink on local bulletin boards at the Grand Marais Library, Lockport Store in Lutsen, Tofte’s Northshore Market, Chicago Bay Marketplace at Hovland, and the Grand Portage Community Center.
The petitions will be left up for two to three weeks. Please, be aware that these businesses wish to remain neutral, but support Freedom of Speech. If you disagree, put up your own petition.
Sign the petition and help stop the expensive, redundant community center that the architects are trying to railroad us into. The current plan as presented so far will undoubtedly raise the taxes of everybody in Cook County. Can you afford more taxes?
