You can see that Casper takes napping very seriously. In October of 2013, Bob LaMettry found a stray cat living in his woodshed. The cat was skittish and shy. Bob started leaving food and water out for the cat to help gain trust. After a couple weeks, the cat allowed Bob to pet him. Photos courtesy of Bob LaMettry
When the cat was taken in for veterinary care, the vet thought he was about two years old. The cat has been living with Bob and his family for ten years now. That would make ‘Casper’ about twelve years old. They have become pretty good pals.

As the weather became colder, Bob tried to get the cat to stay in the house… without much luck. So, Bob built an insulated box in the woodshed, which the cat used. The temps got colder until one day it was about 20 degrees below zero. Bob carried the cat into the house that night and the cat was finally convinced that sleeping by the wood stove was a much better lifestyle.
