A new ambulance for the Gunflint Trail is getting closer to reality. Terri and John Penshorn, property owners on Seagull Lake immediately adjacent to Fire Hall 3 have generously stepped up to the plate with a donation and a challenge. They have committed to offer up to $20,000 as a matching challenge to the Gunflint Trail community.
As of today we have raised over $85,000 with a goal of $200,000. Donations received by June 1 will go toward the Penshorn’s matching fund. Reaching that threshold will bring us to $125,000+ and well on our way.
Our one and only ambulance will be celebrating an 18th birthday soon. That’s old in dog years and ambulance years! This unit has been the single most critical emergency vehicle in the GTVFD fleet. The ambulance responds to all scenarios (medical, fire, search and rescue, etc.). It’s critical that we upgrade the ambulance with the latest technology and equipment to better serve you, our Gunflint community. Dependability is paramount and adding a 4-wheel drive feature is just one of the many upgrades that will make your new ambulance a state-of-theart EMS response vehicle.
So on behalf of the Penshorns, the GTVFD is seeking your support. You never know when you, or a family member, or a friend, or a neighbor will need the services of an ambulance. It will be at that moment when the real value of your contribution will make its biggest impact. Our goal is to raise enough funds to purchase the new ambulance by the end of summer….sooner would be better.
As always, the volunteer membership of the GTVFD thanks you, the Gunflint Trail community, for the generous support you have provided over the years. Now is another great opportunity to show your support and double your donation, big or small. This is ultimately an investment that directly benefits you personally.
