Some days the batters win, some days the pitcher wins. On Thursday, April 29, it was all Katie Peck as the right-hander threw a no-hitter against Northeast Range.
The game was played in Babbitt on the Northeast Range Nighthawks home field.
How good was Katie? She struck out ten and walked just one batter as she dominated the Northeast Range team over four innings.
Meanwhile, the Vikings offense was clicking on all cylinders. The Vikings scored five runs in the first, two in the second, three in the third and pushed eight runners across the plate in the fourth inning. Katie helped herself at bat, walking once and getting one hit, driving in two runs.
Rachel Dorr and Emmalli Myers led the Vikings with three hits each. Dorr stole a team high three bases and drove in two runs. In all, the Vikings recorded 11 stolen bases in the game. Anna Helmerson didn’t get a hit during her four plate appearances but was walked four times.
Defensively the Vikings were sure-handed and didn’t commit an error in the field.
Kallie Anderson had the most fielding plays with ten.
During the Vikings fourth inning offensive onslaught Rachel Dorr, Anna Helmerson, Morgan Starkey, Emmalli Myers, and Kallie Anderson all had RBI’s.
With the score 18-0 after four innings of play, the game was called because of the ten-run rule. The Vikings ended the game with nine hits and 12 walks.
