Cook County Higher Education continues its interesting and stimulating Guest Lecture Series with Karen Lohn, local author, educator, and psychologist, with Peace Fibres: Living Peace in Tumultuous Times on Tuesday, August 2, 7 – 8:30 p.m. at the North Shore Campus in Grand Marais.
Afghanistan, Bin Laden, Arizona, tsunamis, oil spills, the economy…In turbulent times, the human yearning for meaningful connection intensifies. Perhaps surprising, but simple fibres offer both metaphor and manifestation of peaceful connection to self, others, and the larger world. What if simple fibres offer a great unifying avenue for developing harmonious relationship to self, to others, and to the larger world community and all of its inhabitants?
This is the thesis of Karen Lohn’s new book, Peace Fibres: Stitching a Soulful World.
From indigenous villages to intimate relationships, Lohn will discuss the intersection of art, science, and community based on fibre work across cultures, throughout generations. She will share her book and lead an evening of sensory delight.
A natural teacher,
Karen Lohn is a licensed counseling psychologist who is passionate about the tapestry of life. For more than 20 years, she has taught classes, workshops, and college courses focused on integration of self through metaphor and experiential learning.
