I frequently see editorial responses to Mr. Gamble’s column that are not always favorable. It seems that some in Cook County are not concerned with the exponential increase in taxes that have been imposed. They are offended that someone has the audacity to talk about it. If any of the writers were to disagree with him based on facts, then fine, comment away, but please stop with personal swipes.
Cook County spending is out of control. You may be able to change my mind if a reasonable explanation were given for the approximately 41.7 percent increase in property taxes (numbers from Cook County web site) from 2015: $6,516,848 to 2018: $9,236,751. I wonder what “quality of life” elements require this type of increase?
We are one of the highest taxed yet lowest populated counties in Minnesota. This level of spending, some will argue, helps many people, however, those hurt by the increases are seldom mentioned and are often forgotten, ignored or ridiculed. As of right now, I do not see this type of spending as good for our community, but you are welcome to try and change my mind.
