Patricia Jean (Foster) Johnson passed away peacefully on July 27, 2017 at North Shore Health in Grand Marais after a long struggle with cancer.
Patty was born on Oct. 3, 1950 to Frank and Doris Foster in Duluth. She grew up in Croftville and attended Cook County High School in Grand Marais. Patty worked at the A&W Root Beer stand, as a nursing aid at the Care Center, as a babysitter, and later as a business owner with her husband LeRoy in Grand Marais.
Patty dated her future husband LeRoy in high school, but they chose to go their separate ways. Patty married Kenneth Rickard Graham Jr. (Rick) on Jan. 15, 1971 and raised children Amber and Ricky in Hibbing. They divorced Oct. 7, 1980 and Patty moved back to Grand Marais. After reconnecting, LeRoy and Patty married June 8, 1983.
Everyone who knew Patty recognized her as a kind, selfless soul. She offered advice and help to all who asked for it, and family was very important to her. She loved animals both wild and tame, and greatly enjoyed gardening, cooking, and interior decorating.
Patty is survived by her husband Arthur LeRoy Johnson; sister Bonnita (Foster) Johnson; children Amber Pratt (Michael), Kenneth Rickard Graham III, and Dana Johnson; four beloved grandchildren, Kirsten, Leah, Austen, and Eli; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Her parents Frank and Doris Foster, and brother Mike Foster, preceded Patty in death.
The funeral and visitation were held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Grand Marais on Wednesday, Aug. 2. To sign the online guestbook visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
