Patricia Ann Hvidston




Patricia Ann Hvidston, 72, of Hovland, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016 at her home on the North Shore of Lake Superior.

Patricia Ann Hvidston was born in Grand Forks, N.D., the daughter of Colburn Hvidston Jr. and Marguerite (Lyons) Hvidston. She was raised in Grand Forks and attended St. Michael’s Grade School and St. James High School. She went on to attend the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, where she graduated in 1967 with a degree in elementary education.

After a brief teaching career she migrated into the banking world, ultimately becoming president of Firstar Trust of Minnesota. She then returned to the College of St. Catherine as vice president of development followed by her affiliation with Catholic Charities of America in Washington, D.C. as vice president for development. Her post-career years were spent at her beloved Swedish farmstead styled home on Lake Superior and traveling.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Colburn and Marguerite.

She is survived by husband Roger A. Opp; brothers Colburn III (wife, Jackie), James (wife, Mary) and Robin Hvidston; and numerous nephews and a niece.

Services will be held Friday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. in St. Paul at Our Lady of Victory Chapel on the campus of St. Catherine University, preceded by a one-hour visitation.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hovland.
