Partnership workshop presented by Higher Ed

Cook County Higher Education will partner with Hyatt Leadership Coaching to present Creating Partnership, an interactive workshop for leaders in government, nonprofits, and businesses on Oct. 23.

The four-hour workshop at Higher Ed’s Grand Marais campus will explore what it takes to build partnerships within and across organizations, and includes an intense interactive learning activity created by Dr. Barry Oshry, a pioneer in systems thinking.

He will present simple frameworks to illustrate predictable patterns in human systems (families, churches, organizations, communities). This activity and the workshop will focus on patterns that inhibit partnership and what we can do to strengthen partnership.

Marcia Hyatt will serve as a presenter and leadership coach. She has worked in leadership development for over 30 years, has authored numerous articles, chapters and books on the subject of leadership, and co-founded the Center for Emerging Leadership and its Women’s Leadership.

The workshop is designed to clarify participants’ roles as leaders; to identify the issues and dilemmas all people face; to identify how systems become dysfunctional and to develop workable strategies for creating effective, powerful systems.

Pre-registration is required ($15 by Oct. 15, $20 after). The program is limited to 20 participants. The workshop is being offered at cost in honor of the international Worldwide Week of Partnership. The goal is to enhance the effectiveness of these organizations by increasing mutual understanding, respect, and cooperation both within these organizations and with the people they serve.
