Partners made Radio Waves possible

WTIP just wrapped up the fourth annual Radio Waves Music Festival and we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came together to make it possible. The crew of the Grand Marais Recreation Area are wonderful and helpful partners in the event. We thank them for their services and the perfect location for the festival. The North Shore Music Association helped plan the event, offered their sound equipment, and was represented by several volunteers to help make it possible. North House Folk School also worked with us this year to coordinate dates for their Unplugged and Mountain Stage events.

Mostly, we’d like to thank our fabulous community for making this positive, fun event possible. Many people came forward to volunteer their time, more than 1,000 listeners walked through the gates, and amazing local musicians provided great entertainment. All these efforts made the festival a huge success.

My favorite testimonial to the event’s success was observing several tearful children of different ages at various times crying out to their parents upon exiting the festival, “I don’t want to leave!”

Mark your calendars: The fifth annual Radio Waves Music Festival will take place the weekend after Labor Day, 2012. Hope to see you there!
