Jake Paron qualified for his third trip to the state cross country meet with a third-place finish at the Section 7A cross country meet held at Cloquet Country Club on Thursday, October 27.

Paron, a junior from Two Harbors, won the Section meet last year but he has suffered from leg injuries this season, missing training and missing several cross country meets which have slowed him down.

The North Shore Storm runner finished behind Moose Lake-Willow River’s Ethan Olson, who crossed the finish line far ahead of the field in 16 minutes and 18 seconds, and Greenway/ Nashwauk-Keewatin’s eighth-grade star Geno Urhom who finished less than two seconds ahead of Jake in 16 minutes and 52 seconds.

Paron heads into the state meet with a solid early season win over Olson. Statewide, Jake is currently ranked 12th while Olson is ranked 11th for Class A runners.

Noah Smith, a ninth-grade runner from Two Harbors, had his best race of the year and placed eighth to earn his first trip to the state meet. Smith finished with a time of 17 minutes and 11 seconds.

A talented and determined long distance runner, eighth-grade harrier Louise Ramberg has been the top North Shore Storm runner on the girls' team in 2016. Louise placed 22nd at the Section 7A cross country meet held at the Cloquet Country Club.
