Cook County seniors will graduate on May 29, with kids receiving their diplomas with parents or guardians starting at 1 p.m. The public is not invited to graduation because the COVID-19 protocols are still in place.

However, much like last year, the public can take part by posting signs and cheering for the kids as the newly minted graduates parade through town in vehicles.

The parade will start at approximately 2:45 p.m. and end at the intersection of 3rd Street and 3rd Avenue East.

K-12 Assistant Principal Mitch Dorr said, “We have no ending spot to congregate. We can’t use the Coast Guard parking lot this year because of the Memorial Day weekend crowd and construction.”

Instead, the ceremonial moving of the tassels and celebratory throwing of the graduation caps will take place before the parade starts in the school parking lot.
