Learn about watercolor still life and landscape painting during two upcoming classes at the Grand Marais Art Colony.
On Oct. 10-11 it’s Paint: Exploration
of Your Creative Self
with Tim Young. In this class, Young will demonstrate and expound upon his exuberant style of painting. He will facilitate the exploration of students’ creative process as they dive into their preferred medium of painting. Whether you paint portraits, animals, landscapes or abstracts, this class will release your inhibitions and allow you to go further into free-flow painting. Students are sure to be inspired by Young’s anecdotal style of teaching.
The Beauty of Pencil and Brush
will follow with David Hahn on Oct. 17 and 18.
Hahn says there is nothing more basic and beautiful than working with the pencil and brush, and in this class students will examine these two instruments and their proper use as they are applied to watercolor still life and landscape painting. Emphasis will be made on layout and drawing with pencil before applying the brush.
Hahn will lead step by step as students and instructor draw and paint together. There will also be plenty of time to work individually. Beginners to experienced artists are welcome.
