Sometimes the best gifts aren’t the ones you get; they are the ones you give.
Operation Family Christmas allows you to donate anonymously to a child or children who might not find anything under the Christmas tree on Christmas morning.
Even a small gift means a lot to someone who would get no gift at all, said Jes Rodne, in her eighth year as volunteer coordinator of Operation Family Christmas.
Operation Family Christmas has distributed Christmas tags at the North Shore Federal Credit Union, Grand Marais State Bank and Security State Bank. The tags have the age, gender, and ideas for Christmas presents on them.
“This is all confidential. No one knows who is getting presents.”
Each year more than 50 kids from the west end to the east end of the county receive presents they would not have gotten if not for people donating to Operation Family Christmas.
“It is important as a community that we work together to ensure that all children in our county wake up on Christmas morning and feel the magic that arrives on such a special day,” Rodne said.
