Join a professional opera singer as she gives a new perspective on reading for children at a special presentation at 1 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Grand Marais Public Library.
Alisa Magallon, a professional singer with the Minnesota Opera, uses tools from the stage to inspire and help children engage in books. Children will make a puppet and use it to perform pieces taught in the story. Magallon will read and sing a children’s book with an operatic theme.
Magallon has performed as a young artist with Chicago Opera theater, given concerts in Chicago’s famed Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park, performed in the Teatro Piccinni in Bari, Italy, and has given recitals in the capital city of La Paz, Baja California, Sur, Mexico.
