I cannot leave Mr. Gamble’s recent column of April 17 unanswered. These are exceptionally safe and effective vaccines. His column is full of misleading information and scare tactics. Ongoing participation in vaccination is critical to being able to effectively control this pandemic.
I am exceptionally proud of our community for the exemplary work done so far. Public Health, North Shore Health, Sawtooth Mountain Clinic, members of the business community, along with numerous volunteers have come together to fight this pandemic. As a result, Cook County has the highest vaccination rate of any county in the continental U.S.! We have cases but have yet to have a single death.
There is still much work to be done. We will soon be facing the challenges (and benefits) of our annual influx of visitors. The fear mongering and misinformation in Mr. Gamble’s column undermines the exceptional work of all these good people. I urge you to listen to those with appropriate credentials for your medical advice.
