One Flu over the Cuckoo’s Nest

The paper, two weeks ago, told us about flu testing in two different articles.

Questions arise, local practices are public and so I ask: At the clinic some individuals are tested every day before starting work. It is a quick result test.

What is the cost?

North Shore Health offers over-the-counter rapid test kits that anyone can purchase online with registration.

What is the cost?

Cook County has 35 people who may need weekly testing. Those test kits cost $150 each.

Why?

Do we wonder, do we doubt, does anyone else ask the question, If the county spends what is suggested the cost to you is $126,000 for six months.

How can anyone even suggest $150 for a test kit when other options exist and possibly at much less cost to you.

What other alternatives are there that no one wants to talk about? It’s time to ask the question, who is doing the research to provide the best for everyone?

Is this a bullying tactic or guilt trip trying to force people to get a shot, so we don’t have such huge costs?
