After taking a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festive Scandinavian holiday celebration “Oh Ole Night” is returning to downtown Grand Marais.
On Friday, Nov. 26, the event will start with a parade at 5:30 p.m. at the Cook County Senior Center parking lot on South Broadway Avenue, which will make two loops along Broadway, head westbound on Wisconsin Street, turn at 1st Ave and back around to Broadway.
On the second loop the parade will end up at Harbor Park where parade participants and spectators will gather for the tree lighting ceremony, where Grand Marais will illuminate its holiday tree followed by fireworks show over the harbor.
To participate in the parade, just line up in the Senior Center parking lot on Broadway by 5 pm: walkers, jugglers, winter bikes, four-legged furry animals, decorated vehicles and trailers are ALL welcomed and encouraged!
After the in-person event, tune-in to WTIP Community Radio from 6-7 p.m. for the return of Oh Ole Night: The Radio Special, which will include specially curated holiday fun. From 7-8 p.m., gear up for another evening of WTIP’s call-in trivia show Small Change that will also feature some holiday fun.
