Cook County Towing’s “Traveling Gnome Award” was voted the Best Overall float in this year’s Christmas parade held on Friday, Nov. 23.

Hundreds of people turned out on what turned out to be a warm Friday evening to see the parade, watch the lighting of the Christmas tree in Harbor Park and then witness the grand fireworks display over the harbor.

Java Moose won for the “Best Scandinavian” theme while Cook County Whole Foods Co-op won in the “Cutest Animal” category.

Taking top honors in the “Cutest Kiddos” group was the World’s Best Donuts while the Deer Yard Lake Family won an award for having the “Biggest Group.”

Last but not least, Gunflint Mercantile & Gunflint Baking Company won for the “Most Holiday Spirit.”
