Odyssey Development, owner and manager of seven resorts on the North Shore of Lake Superior and Leech Lake, has announced that Chuck Paton, regional general manager, has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of Odyssey Resorts.
Paton has served as general manager at Larsmont Cottages in Two Harbors for three years. He will now also oversee operations at Beacon Pointe Resort, Duluth; Larsmont Cottages on Lake Superior, Two Harbors; Breezy Point Cabins on Lake Superior, Two Harbors; Grand Superior Lodge and Splashing Rock Restaurant, Two Harbors; Caribou Highlands Lodge and Moguls Grill and Tap Room, Lutsen; East Bay Suites, Grand Marais; and Trappers Landing Lodge on Leech Lake, Walker.
Robert Ryan, CEO and owner of Odyssey Development, expressed confidence in Paton’s ability to manage day-to-day operations in the context of the varying properties within the Odyssey portfolio.
“Chuck has over 35 years experience in the hospitality industry,” Ryan said. “That experience and Chuck’s unique set of talents has helped reinvigorate our culture, tighten our operations and improve our profitability. We anticipate this move will allow that momentum to even more fully infiltrate all of our properties.”
Paton expressed a combination of humility and confidence in accepting the promotion.
“Odyssey is truly blessed with geographical exclusivity — there’s not a lot of Lake Superiors out there, for example. Our role is to make guests aware of how special our properties are and then treat them with the ultimate in respect, sincerity and a true spirit of hospitality once they arrive, befitting the unique setting each of our destinations enjoys.”
Paton’s years in the hospitality industry are decorated with accolades, including being the only general manager in Minnesota to have served in that capacity at both of the only Four Star-rated properties in the state: The St. Paul Hotel and the Hotel Ivy in Minneapolis.
